Kraft paper bags with flat handles and a folded base stand securely on the counter and hold burgers, fries and drinks accessories. One- or two-colour flexo printing turns every order into an advert for your brand.
Sturdy paper carrier bags in kraft or recycled paper, printed and finished directly by the manufacturer – for premium retail, gift packaging and in-store events.

Paper carrier bags – often simply called paper bags – are carrier bags made from kraft paper (virgin fibre) or recycled paper with up to 100 % recovered fibre, printed with a logo and used as checkout bags, gift bags or event packaging. Typical paper weights range from 70 to 210 g/m², laminated up to 240 g/m²; standard bags carry around 5 kg, heavy-duty versions 8 to 12 kg. Unlaminated kraft and recycled paper is fully recyclable and biodegradable.
Paper carrier bags combine high-end presentation with a renewable, fully recyclable raw material. We make them from sturdy kraft paper (virgin fibre) with exceptionally high tear strength, or from recycled paper with up to 100 % recovered fibre – both qualities are fully recyclable and biodegradable.
Strength comes down to the details: a folded base with a reinforcement insert keeps the bag standing securely, while a reinforcement sheet glued on the inside takes the load around the handles. Choose between twisted paper cord for high-volume needs and flat cotton or PP cord for a retail look. Standard bags carry around 5 kg, heavy-duty versions 8 to 12 kg.
For printed paper bags with logo, we offer offset printing in up to around six colours, flexo and screen printing for large runs, and digital printing for small quantities. Matt or gloss lamination, hot foil stamping, blind embossing and UV embossing lift your bag into premium retail territory – FSC-certified on request.
Where paper bags play to their strengths

Kraft paper bags with flat handles and a folded base stand securely on the counter and hold burgers, fries and drinks accessories. One- or two-colour flexo printing turns every order into an advert for your brand.

For delivery and click & collect, the bag is the first point of contact with your brand on the doorstep. Tear-resistant kraft paper with a reinforced base carries larger orders safely, too.

At festivals, markets and corporate events, consistently printed paper bags create a professional look – recyclable, plastic-free and quickly available in larger quantities.
Paper weight is the key lever: heavier grammages look more premium at the point of sale and carry heavier goods safely.
| Quality | Paper weight | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Economy | 70–110 g/m² | Promotions, bakeries, high-volume needs with twisted paper cord |
| Premium | 140–210 g/m² | Fashion, perfumery, delicatessen – a more premium feel and higher load capacity |
| Laminated | up to 240 g/m² | Premium retail and gift bags with a matt or gloss finish |
We’ll help you find the paper weight that suits your typical basket, desired look and feel, and budget.

Offset and flexo printing for full-bleed designs, precise brand colours and large runs – offset in up to around six colours. The foundation for consistent packaging design across stores and campaigns.

Opaque, vibrant logos and clean solid areas, even on natural brown kraft paper – durable and ideal for pared-back, bold brand statements at events and promotions.

For small quantities and multi-colour designs without the set-up costs of printing plates.

Hot foil stamping in gold, silver or colour makes logos shine; blind and UV embossing add a subtle, refined touch. Combined with matt or gloss lamination, it’s the premium finish for boutique and gift bags.
Ideal for
Paper carrier bags work well as checkout bags in premium retail, as gift and product packaging, and for in-store events and pop-ups. They are particularly strong in fashion, perfumery, jewellery, patisserie and delicatessen – wherever a refined look and consistent packaging design carry the perceived value.
For a lasting premium presence, we recommend heavier paper weights with lamination and hot foil stamping or blind embossing. For promotions, sales or events, natural brown kraft paper with opaque screen printing is often enough – authentic and cost-effective. We’ll work out the combination that suits your occasion and budget.
Yes. With a reinforced base and handles glued firmly across the inner fold, our paper bags carry a typical shop safely – standard bags around 5 kg, heavy-duty versions 8 to 12 kg. For consistently heavy or wet loads and reuse over several years, fabric or coated woven bags are the better choice.
Unlaminated kraft and recycled paper bags are made from a renewable raw material and are fully recyclable and biodegradable. If circularity is your priority, choose minimal or no lamination, as plastic lamination can impair recyclability. On request, we produce FSC-certified bags (FSC Mix or FSC Recycled).
When refined presentation and consistent packaging design take centre stage – in premium retail, at events or as gift packaging with a limited period of use. If the goal is repeated use over several years and as many recurring brand contacts as possible, cotton, jute or woven bags last longer.
Yes. Especially with laminated and foil-finished paper bags, a pre-production sample is worthwhile so you can check paper weight, print and finish in your hands. We tailor minimum order quantities, lead times and prices to your occasion and deadline – email us at hello@shopybag.com.
Paper bags make their mark wherever the hand-over moment matters: at the till in premium retail, in gift sets and during unboxing. The bag leaves your shop as a visible brand ambassador – through the city centre, into your customers’ homes and onto their social media photos. Its high-quality, fibre-based look and feel is what separates a throwaway bag from a brand ambassador at the point of sale.
For marketing and procurement, paper weight is the most important lever: heavier grammages instantly look more premium and carry heavier goods – relevant for fashion, perfumery or delicatessen, for example. We advise you on the paper weight that matches your typical basket, the look you want and your budget, so the bag is neither over- nor under-specified.
In bricks-and-mortar retail, the paper bag is the obvious checkout bag when appearance and a consistent packaging design take priority. For store openings, launch events and pop-up stores, it delivers a high-end look for a clearly limited period of use – without investing in reusable bags built to last for years. As gift packaging, the bag itself becomes part of the experience.
Whether it holds up depends on the workmanship: we reinforce the base with an inserted board and glue the handles – twisted paper cord or cotton tape – firmly across the inner fold so they don’t tear out, even with a full load. Clean fold edges, precise glued seams and accurately spaced handles make sure the bag looks premium rather than cheap.
The paper bag gives you a verifiable argument at the point of sale: it is made from a renewable, fibre-based raw material and is fully recyclable after use – a plastic-free carrier bag that delivers on your sustainability promise at the till. To get the most out of its recyclability, choose minimal or no lamination.
Paper bags are also available made in Europe. Short distances keep transport-related emissions low and delivery dates predictable – an advantage for time-critical promotions and seasonal goods.
Choose paper when refined presentation and a consistent packaging design at the point of sale are the priority – as a checkout bag in premium retail, as gift packaging or for events with a clearly limited period of use. For repeated use over several years, cotton and jute are the better fit; for robust, water-repellent everyday use, PP woven, non-woven or RPET; for a premium feel in the corporate gift space, felt.
