Grocery & weekly shopping
A load capacity of up to 25 kg, a wipe-clean surface and a stable base make PP woven the ideal reusable shopping bag – hygienic to clean if anything ever leaks.
Sturdy, lightweight and brilliantly printed: laminated bags made from woven polypropylene, durable and reusable – for shopping, trade fairs and promotions.

PP woven bags are made from narrow, stretched polypropylene tapes that are woven into a dense lattice fabric on circular looms and then laminated with a thin BOPP or PE film. This makes them lightweight, extremely tear-resistant, water- and dirt-repellent, with a load capacity of approx. 5–15 kg, or 15–25 kg in a reinforced version. For larger runs, the design is gravure-printed in reverse onto the film and, once laminated, sits scuff-resistant beneath it – ideal for shopping, trade fair and promotional bags.
At the heart of PP woven bags is woven polypropylene: narrow, biaxially stretched PP tapes are woven into a dense lattice fabric on circular looms and then laminated with a thin BOPP or PE film. The result is a bag that is extremely tear-resistant and shape-retaining, yet lightweight.
The lamination is more than protection: it seals the surface, makes the bag water- and dirt-repellent and wipe-clean, and provides the ideal base for brilliant printing. With gravure printing, we reproduce your design in photorealistic multicolour – usually as a reverse print, scuff-resistant and colourfast beneath the protective film.
Polypropylene is recyclable as a single material. On request, we produce your bags from rPET or with recycled PP content – certifiable to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) for verifiable recycled content.
Where PP woven bags play to their strengths

A load capacity of up to 25 kg, a wipe-clean surface and a stable base make PP woven the ideal reusable shopping bag – hygienic to clean if anything ever leaks.

The lamination repels moisture and the fabric won’t tear – ideal for the weekly market, the beach or a short break, even with damp or dirty contents.

Photorealistic gravure printing on the smooth laminated surface makes PP woven the first choice for trade fair bags, goodie bags and promotional merchandise that keeps being carried for a long time.
The key difference from unlaminated bags is that, for high-quality large runs, it is not the fabric itself that is printed, but an ultra-thin OPP (oriented polypropylene) film. This is printed in reverse and only then applied to the fabric in the laminating process. The design is therefore protected beneath the film – scuff-resistant and colourfast.
Depending on the complexity of the design and the order quantity, three main processes are used.
| Printing process | Typical use & type of design | Key features & cost-effectiveness |
|---|---|---|
| Gravure (rotogravure) | Photorealistic designs, complex colour gradients, CMYK four-colour printing and Pantone. | The standard for large runs (from approx. 1,000–3,000 pieces). Delivers the most premium look. High initial costs, as a separate copper printing cylinder has to be engraved for each ink colour. |
| Flexo printing | Simple logos, text, line art and flat, straightforward designs. | Uses flexible printing plates (clichés) and fast-drying inks. Cost-effective for medium to large industrial quantities, but does not offer photo quality. |
| Screen printing | Printed afterwards onto bags that are already sewn (usually on the front/back). | Ideal for small runs or express deliveries. Solid colours only (e.g. up to 6 Pantone colours), without fine halftone gradients. |
Piping (bound bag edges) in a contrasting colour, or special shapes, give the bag extra character – a real eye-catcher.

For photorealistic designs and large runs: an ultra-thin OPP film is reverse-printed by rotogravure and laminated onto the fabric before the bag is made up. This creates full-surface, borderless designs with colour gradients that sit scuff-resistant beneath the film.

Using flexible printing plates (clichés) and fast-drying inks – cost-effective for simple logos, text and flat designs in medium to large quantities, but without photo quality.

Printed afterwards onto the finished, sewn bag, usually on the front and back. Ideal for small runs or express deliveries with clean solid colours (e.g. up to 6 Pantone colours), without fine halftone gradients.

For detailed, multicolour designs in small to medium runs, for example event editions or regional promotions. The transfer adheres reliably to the laminated surface.

Flexible for finely detailed designs with many colours and no high set-up costs – a sensible option for smaller quantities, corporate gifts or trial runs when no full-surface film print is planned.
Ideal for
Above all for retailers and supermarkets as a premium checkout bag you can sell, for wine, delicatessen and drinks retailers with heavy or damp goods, and for trade fairs and events as advertising space that visitors take home. PP woven also proves itself as sturdy shipping or gift-set packaging – wherever a bag needs to stay stable when heavily loaded and show off a design brilliantly.
That depends on the design and quantity. Photorealistic designs in large runs (from approx. 1,000–3,000 pieces) are produced by gravure printing on an OPP film, which is then laminated on. Simple logos and text in larger quantities are cost-effective in flexo printing, while small runs and express orders are screen printed onto the finished bag.
They are water- and dirt-repellent: the laminated coating stops moisture soaking into the fabric and is easy to wipe clean. This makes them suitable for dripping goods, condensation or outdoor use, but they are not fully sealed waterproof bags.
The woven, coated fabric is designed for frequent use and stays in service for hundreds of trips. Every use is another visual contact with your design. As a result, the cost per brand contact is significantly lower than with a one-off giveaway.
Yes, on request we produce them from recycled rPET fabric or with recycled PP content, GRS-certifiable on request. Polypropylene itself is recyclable as a single material. We agree specific specifications and material content as part of your enquiry.
Yes, for both. As a checkout bag, PP woven can be sold thanks to its high-quality surface with photorealistic print, and it is reused because it is so durable. As a shipping solution, the tear-resistant, wipe-clean outer protects the goods and becomes an everyday carrier bag once unpacked.
PP woven bags work wherever a bag is carried every day and stays visible: at the supermarket checkout, across your store network, on the street and in your customers’ kitchens. Because the tear-resistant, coated fabric stays in use for hundreds of trips, your design is seen not once but again and again – the cost per brand contact falls significantly compared with a short-lived giveaway.
The real lever is reuse: a bag that is kept rather than thrown away thanks to its durability and wipe-clean surface works as a mobile billboard for months. The high tensile strength of woven polypropylene ensures that even heavy contents are carried safely.
In retail, PP woven is the premium checkout bag you can sell: the smooth laminated surface carries a photorealistic private-label design and justifies a retail price at the point of sale. In wine, delicatessen and drinks retail, it also matters that the coating repels drips and condensation and that the reinforced base with a bottom insert stays stable even when fully loaded.
At trade fairs and events, the full-surface print area serves as a large-format advertising space that visitors take away and keep using. As e-commerce or gift-set packaging, the sturdy, wipe-clean outer protects the goods and then becomes a reusable carrier bag. Welded or sewn edges and reinforced handles make the bag durable in every scenario.
For marketing and brand managers, PP woven offers the best stage for campaign artwork: fine colour gradients, borderless designs and photorealistic imagery look brilliant on the coated film – in a quality that textile or matt materials cannot deliver in the same way. For procurement, durability is what counts: the unit price is spread across a large number of visual contacts.
There are two arguments for sustainability communication: PP woven is recyclable as a single material and available in recycled rPET fabric on request. The biggest lever, though, remains its service life – a tear-resistant, wipe-clean bag pays back its material input through repeated use.
Choose PP woven when durability, water repellency and a brilliant, full-surface design are all required: as a premium checkout bag, as a carrier for heavy or damp goods such as drinks, tins or market produce, and as a long-lasting advertising medium.
For pure giveaway runs at the lowest unit price, non-woven is the better fit; for a natural fabric look, cotton or jute; and for an elegant, shorter-lived packaging experience at the point of sale, the paper bag. For chilled food transport, the CityShopper with its detachable freezer compartment is the right 2-in-1 system.
